A Grieving Harp

Phoenix Consort’s recent performance of our programme “A Grieving Harp” took us on a musical journey from our two fantastic venues, St. Mary’s Parish Church and Bridlington Priory Church, transporting us across Europe and the Northern hemisphere, away from the stunning Barnard Castle and the beautiful East Riding of Yorkshire. After welcoming in our audience, we took to the stage and began exploring works from the Spanish Renaissance, before moving onto some hidden gems from Germany’s rich choral tradition. After a short break with some snacks and wine, we resumed with a variety of early and modern English choral works followed by a few French Chanson, before closing the programme with some modern folk music hailing from across the Atlantic.

It was a pleasure to sing such a brilliant variety of music, spanning centuries and continents, in front of our two welcoming and appreciative audiences. We extend our thanks and heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters in Barnard Castle and Bridlington; the presence, support, and enthusiasm of the local communities made our concerts a joy to perform, and an unforgettable experience.
